First Daughter Jenna Bush stands up for UNICEF and urges teens to learn about HIV
Appearing under tight security at the Miami Book Fair International 2007, the President's daughter Jenna Bush offered background on how and why she (with Mia Baxter) wrote her first book for teenagers called Ana's Story (HarperTeens; September, 2007). The author then introduced her audience to Juan and Ana, whom Jenna Bush met while working with UNICEF in Latin America, and read Chapters 1-4 of her book, proudly noting she had written them all herself. Jenna Bush expressed her surprise and admiration at Ana's joyful life despite her troubles. The First Daughter wrapped up her presentation with a video of her work with Unicef in Latin America, closing her remarks by imploring everyone, especially teenagers, to learn about the deadly HIV virus and AIDS.
